NILES, Ohio -  A shoplifting incident at an Eastwood Mall department store that turned into a robbery charge has resulted in a three-month jail term for a fifty-year-old Girard woman.

Jennifer Perrot is scheduled to be released from the Trumbull County Jail on Christmas Day after being convicted of theft in Niles Municipal Court on Monday.

Perrot was arrested in connection with the theft of more than $400 worth of clothing from JC Penney on May 1.

According to a police report, Perrot entered a fitting room with clothing in a shopping cart and then left the store with a bag filled with stolen goods.

Two employees who tried to stop Perrot, say she pushed one of them out of the way and drove off in her car.

One of the employees snapped a picture of the woman’s license plate.

Originally charged with robbery, Perrot pleaded no contest to a reduced charge of theft.

In addition to the 90-day sentence, Perrot was fined $1,000 and has been permanently banned from the Eastwood Mall Complex, the Great East Plaza, and adjoining parking lots.
