Bond is set at $50,000 for a Trumbull County woman accused of administering excessive punishment to a child.

According to a complaint filed by a Trumbull County Sheriff's Deputy, 27-year-old Amber McElravy threw her five-year-old son across a room, slammed him to the ground, and continuously struck him with a belt.

The charge of child endangering is based on an investigation that includes video evidence, according to the deputy's report.

The charge, filed by a Sheriff’s Deputy, alleges that McElravy violated the law prohibiting a parent from administering corporal punishment or other physical disciplinary measure in a cruel manner or for a prolonged period that creates a substantial risk of serious physical harm to a child.

McElravy, who was arrested at her Scott Street home, was arraigned by video in Newton Falls Municipal Court and now faces another court hearing scheduled for October 4.
