The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Ravenna Post is investigating a fatal crash in Paris Township, Portage County.
Troopers say that at approximately 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, a Ford pickup truck driven by Gregory M. Dean, 66, of Ravenna rear-ended a Chevy pickup truck that had stopped to make a turn off state Route 5.
The Chevy, driven by 43-year-old Michael J. Strickler, 43, of Plainfield, Indiana was forced off the road.
Dean, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Strickler was transported to University Hospital in Ravenna with non-life-threatening injuries. Troopers say Strickler was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
State Route 5 was closed for about one hour before being reopened after the scene was cleared.
