CANFIELD, Ohio -

It's not exactly the great pumpkin, Charlie Brown, but more like the Valley's answer to it!

We're talking about the Ohio Valley Giant Pumpkin Growers' 28th annual Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off.

It takes place each year at Parks Garden Center in Canfield.

This year's champ tipped the scales at a whopping 2,493 pounds.

The grower of that pumpkin, Andy Wolf, beat his mark from last year by more than 100 pounds.

Of course they're all there to show off their hard work, but Wolf says it's about much more than just big pumpkins.

"It's the people really. I've been doing this for over 20 years, and these are good friends I've known for quite a long time. So this is kind of our Super Bowl. We get to get together and see how everybody's done for the year, and get to catch up with everybody for a little while.

The current world record giant pumpkin came from Tuscany, Italy and weighed in at 2,700 pounds.

It had roots close to home though, it grew from a seed provided by the Ohio Valley Giant Pumpkin Growers.
