Is the Foxtron EV Model B hatchback to be assembled in Lordstown?
Pininfarina, an Italian car design firm in Turin, Italy, shared an online video of an upcoming mini hatchback EV, that multiple sources are reporting may be assembled in the Foxconn plant in Lordstown beginning in 2024. The sources - including Car and Driver - stated the new EV car be unveiled by Foxconn on Oct. 18.
Published on Pininfarina's YouTube channel, in Taiwan.
The teaser says "It's a beauty. It's a beast. It’s designed with #Pininfarina. Breathtaking and bold." The video says more details to be revealed on HHTD22/Hon Hai Tech Day 2022.
21 News reached out to Foxconn for comment on the reports but did not hear back. No information on the specifications, electric motors, or battery capacity has been released.
Foxtron was founded in 2020 as a joint venture between Foxconn and the Taiwanese car manufacturer Yulon. Foxconn CEO Yang-Wei Liu told AutoCar in August that the Lordstown plant is designed for annual capacities of up to 500,000 cars.
Last week the company that now owns the former GM Assembly Plant in Lordstown, announced an agreement with INDIEV to manufacture the first INDI One prototype vehicle.
