A Trumbull County Grand Jury has added additional charges against 55-year-old Kevin Mallard, who was the man allegedly involved in an officer-involved shooting in Liberty Township on June 10 in Liberty Township.

The Grand Jury of Trumbull County in September added additional charges against Mallard, which include four counts of attempted murder (F1) with firearm specifications.

The superseding indictment also includes the charges against Mallard that were filed on June 23, including attempted aggravated murder with a firearm specification (F1); attempted murder with a firearm specification
(F1); inducing panic with a firearm specification (F4); improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle (F4), and carrying concealed weapons (F4).

The indictment stems from the June 10 incident where the suspect allegedly shot 20-year-old Zach Woods on Belmont Avenue in Liberty Township, and in a shoot-out with police.

Mallard is accused of shooting a man in the face, followed by returning fire to a police officer who was shooting at him in Liberty Township in June.

Previously, Mallard had requested the death penalty, but this request was denied by Girard Municipal Court Judge, Jeffrey Adler who says none of Mallard's charges made him eligible for the death penalty.

Mallard is being held in Mahoning County Jail awaiting his next hearing, which is set for Oct. 25 at 1:30 pm in Judge Ronald Rice's courtroom.
