Fowler Township Police Department receives $55k in traffic safety grants

FOWLER TWP., Ohio - Fowler Township Police Chief, Michael Currington announced on Tuesday that the Ohio Department of Public Safety's (ODPS) Ohio Traffic Safety Office (OTSO) awarded $55,000 in federal traffic safety funding for Fowler Police Department for 2023.
"Partnerships are critical to the success of any safety effort and we are committed to working with safety partners to address traffic safety concerns in Trumbull County," Currington said.
The department has identified that education about traffic safety, seatbelt use, distracted and impaired driving and speeding is impacting the safety and welfare of citizens of Trumbull County.
The grant money will be used to do programs, attend events and activities to reach out to the public in efforts to spread the message of traffic safety.
Chief Currington says officer Kevin Kuriantyk will be assigned as the grand coordinator and point of contact.
The funds are passed through OTSO from the National Traffic Safety Administration to support the efforts of safety partners throughout Ohio and focus on the traffic safety priority areas such as restraint use, impaired driving, motorcycle safety and youthful drivers.
