This weekend will be great weatherwise for the 6th annual Youngstown Marathon, which will feature a full, half, 5K marathons, and a kids fun run.

The full/half marathon begins at 8 a.m., and the 5K will start at 8:15 a.m., and kids fun run at noon.

The following roads in Mill Creek MetroParks will be closed to all traffic, as well as cyclists and pedestrians from 6 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., on Sunday, October 23 for the Youngstown Marathon:

  • Birch Hill Drive (South of Lily Pond Parking Lot)
  • West Drive
  • West Glacier Drive
  • Weaver Road and Lower Gate of Fellows Riverside Gardens
  • Price Road
  • Slippery Rock Bridge
  • Memorial Hill Drive
  • Robinson Hill Drive
  • East Cohasset Drive
  • West Cohasset Drive
  • Cascade Drive
  • Valley Drive
  • West Valley Drive
  • East Park Drive
  • Old Mill Drive
  • East Newport Drive
  • Kreider's Entrance
  • West Newport Drive
  • East Golf Drive & parking areas both at Route 224 and Shields Road
  • West Golf Drive from the Mill Creek Golf Course Parking Lot North to Shields Road

Drivers are being asked to use caution when driving on MetroParks roads Sunday, watching for pedestrians and bicyclists on other roads in the park.

Local charities that will benefit from the 2022 Youngstown Marathon include the American Heart Association, Cadence Care Network, Ballet Western Reserve and Youngstown Blue Coats.
