Youngstown Area Jewish Federation releases statement on Kanye West's antisemitic statements

A Youngstown organization has come out against rapper Kanye West, now known as Ye, after recent antisemitic social media posts.
The Jewish Community Relations Council of the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation released a statement saying "West’s comments are unacceptable, dangerous, and beyond all standards of decency."
The council continued, "following his most recent remarks, prominent conspiracy theorists, extremist racist groups and antisemitic influencers were quick to leverage his words to promote their own beliefs. West, who has more online followers than Jews in the world, could have used his influence to create positive change. Instead, he has shown no remorse or contrition for his string of antisemitic remarks filled with hate and lies, and is using his influence to reinforce antisemitic tropes."
The statement comes after a tweet on his account said he would "go death con 3 in Jewish People." Later in the same tweet, Ye claimed he couldn't be antisemitic because "black people are actually Jew also."
The Youngstown Area Jewish Federation says they are thankful for the organizations and people of all races who have spoken out against Ye's statements and the businesses that have ended relationships with him.
Since the tweet, a number of businesses have cut ties with West.
As of Tuesday Gap, Adidas, CAA and Balenciaga have cut ties with the rapper.
According to Forbes, Gap severed its partnership with West in September and is taking immediate steps to remove Yeezy Gap products from its stores. YeezyGap.com was also shut down and now redirects to Gap's main website.
According to CNBC, Adidas also ended its partnership with him Tuesday and Foot Locker followed soon after.
Kanye is also no longer with the record label Def Jam and his G.O.O.D Music label is no longer linked to Def Jam, the New York Times reported.
After the fallout with Adidas Ye is no longer a billionaire. Forbes reports Ye's net worth fell to $400 million after the termination of the deal.
West is regarded as one of the most influential hip-hop artists of all time and has released 11 studio albums to date.
