NEW CASTLE, Pa. - New Castle fire crews responded to a fire in the rear of a home in the 1100 Block of Cunningham Avenue Sunday morning.

The call came in shortly before 6:30 a.m. Sunday. Crews say they found the rear of the house on fire near the porch area.

Crews say the fire did significant damage to the rest of the house climbing all the way to the attic.

Neighbors say an older male lives in the home with his dog, and New Castle Fire Chief, Mike Kobbe says the man's car was parked in front of the house.

Crews did two sweeps of the house but were unable to locate the man or the dog. Kobbe says he will meet with the city's fire investigator to do another search of the home.
