The husband of a Lawrence County woman convicted of taking part in the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot has also been charged in connection with the insurrection.

Brian Sizer of Ellwood City surrendered to federal authorities after four charges were filed against him.

Sizer is married to Julia Sizer who earlier this year was fined and placed on probation after pleading guilty to parading, demonstrating and picketing in the Capitol.

According to an affidavit, Julia Sizer admitted to investigators that she and her husband both entered the Capitol on January 6th.

Investigators say closed circuit tv showed Julia and Brian Sizer taking a “selfie” of themselves inside the building that afternoon.

The affidavit says the couple walked down a hallway before entering an office.

After Brian Sizer came out of the office and into the hall without his wife, investigators say he and others began coughing when someone sprayed a chemical irritant.  Brian Sizer left the building after having spent six minutes inside, say investigators.

Julia Sizer came out of the office shortly after her husband, using her hat to cover her mouth and nose as she left the building.

Brian Sizer has been charged with knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, disorderly conduct on capitol grounds, and other offenses on capitol grounds.

An initial appearance by video conference has been scheduled in federal court on Thursday for Brian Sizer.

Nearly 900 people have been charged in connection with the effort to stop congress from certifying Joseph Biden as the winner in the race for US President in 2020. Eight of those people are from the Valley. One suspect took his own life.
