WBCB, The Valley’s CW, will televise the Missouri Valley Football Conference game between Youngstown State University and Illinois State University this Saturday, November 5, 2022.  The game will begin at 3:00 p.m., live from Normal, Illinois. 

YSU (5-3, 3-2 MVFC) is on a three-game winning streak after a convincing 45-24 win over South Dakota at Stambaugh Stadium on Saturday.  Meanwhile, Illinois State (5-3, 3-2) had a three-game winning streak snapped in a 24-7 loss at North Dakota State. 

YSU is guided by head coach Doug Phillips who is in his third season.  Illinois State head coach Brock Spack is in his 14th

The series between the two teams kicked off in 1979, with ISU holding a narrow 15-14 advantage.  The teams have not played in the last two seasons.  In 2019, the Penguins scored a 21-3 win over the Redbirds at Stambaugh Stadium.  

YSU RB Jaleel McLaughlin continues to lead the MVFC in rushing by a wide margin.  The senior is averaging a conference-best 147.8 yards per game and is tied for the MVFC lead in touchdowns with 12.  His 1182 rushing yards places him second among NCAA FCS runners.  As a team, the Penguins are second in the MVFC, rushing for 212.8 yards per contest.
