DECISION 2022: J.D. Vance winner of Ohio U.S. Senate race

The heated race for Senator Rob Portman's seat has officially been called with Republican candidate, J.D. Vance announced as the winner.
NBC News reports that Vance won by 53.5% compared to Ryan's 47.4%.
Vance was born in Middletown, Ohio near Cincinnati. He is an alumnus of The Ohio State University, as well as Yale Law School where he received his degree in law. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps. during the Iraq War.
In 2017, Vance returned to Ohio to start a Cincinnati-based business focused on growing companies that produce well-paying jobs.
Vance ran against Valley Congressman, Tim Ryan, who has worked as a Congressman in Ohio's 13th District since 2003 after his election in 2002 and is currently serving his 10th term.
Throughout the race, polls showed both Ryan and Vance neck and neck the majority of the time with both candidates attacking each other on past comments and controversies.
Ryan marketed himself as a moderate and a "Trump Democrat" during his campaign, while Vance claimed Ryan was not actually a moderate referencing his past voting record with President Joe Biden and House Speaker, Nancy Pelosi.
Vance also received his share of attacks from Ryan describing him as a "Silicon Valley vulture capitalist" and stating that Vance was out of touch with Ohioans and their issues.
