The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is gearing up for a busy winter season and are looking to hire qualified folks to drive and maintain state snowplows.

ODOT relies on these workers to make sure over 43,000 lane miles of state and U.S. routes and all interstates aside from the Ohio Turnpike are maintained during snowy and icy road conditions.

"The men and women who drive and support ODOT's fleet of nearly 1,700 plow trucks play a vital role in making sure our roads remain passable for those who need them during and after a storm," said Ohio Governor, Mike DeWine.

Both full time and part time positions are available. In order to apply, you must meet the following criteria:

- Must have a valid Class A or B Commercial Drivers Licence (CDL) and no air brake restriction

- Must have three months training or experience with operation of basic equipment

- Must be able to pass a physical ability test (be able to life between 50 and 100 pounds)

- Must pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug test

- Must have an email address

In addition, ODOT has a new Highway Maintenance Worker opportunity where ODOT will train and pay for a CDL. These are full time positions with benefits, which can lead to career advancement in highway maintenance.
