Several motorcycle clubs around the valley came together for Bear's 4th Annual Turkey Trot, helping families in need at the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley (RMMV) have a proper thanksgiving feast.

This is the fourth year of the donation and Tony "Bear" Landis, director of the trot, says giving back to the community is important to him and other motorcyclists.

"We love doing this. We love riding and we love helping out all year long and this turkey trot is one of the biggest things that they love to do," Landis said.

This year the bikers visited WalMart purchasing nearly 80 turkeys and hundreds of dollars worth of side dishes for families at the mission. Landis says participants and donations grow each year.

"We started out the first year with maybe 1500 and this year we [were] able to get close to $4000 in donations," he said adding, "I hope that we can keep going and maybe spread out to three counties."

Lynn Wyant, chief development officer for RMMV, says there has been an increase of families coming in, and with the mission nearly reaching capacity this year, having help from the community is greatly appreciated.

"We're just so thankful to the community for every single dollar that is given and every turkey that's given," Wyant said.
