ODOT looking to hire drivers for Mahoning Valley before winter season

The main highways and roads you drive on across Ohio might not be plowed as quickly this winter season because of a lack of drivers.
ODOT is looking for hundreds of drivers for the winter season and claims that applications are down quite a bit.
They're looking to hire 14 seasonal drivers in Mahoning County and 15 in Trumbull.
So far, they've had 10 applicants for Mahoning and six for Trumbull.
ODOT currently has a roster of full-time drivers but needs seasonal ones to get everyone through the long-term snow and ice events.
"IT MIGHT JUST TAKE A LITTLE BIT LONGER TO GET THOSE ROADS CLEARED COMPLETELY. THE PRIMARY ROUTES THOUGH THOSE MAIN ROUTES ARE ALWAYS GOING TO BE THE FOCUS. THOSE SHOULD BE IN GOOD SHAPE BUT FOR THOSE SECONDARY ROUTES MAY TAKE A LITTLE BIT LONGER TO CLEAR tHOSE ROADS COMPLETELY FROM THE SNOW AND ICE." ODOT District 4 spokesperson Justin Chesnic said.
There will be a hiring event Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Akron at ODOT's South Arlington Road office.
