Drivers who’ve been navigating through construction zones along Western Reserve Road in Mahoning County have a new location to detour around.

Beginning Monday, December 5, 2022, through Thursday, December 15, 2022, Western Reserve Road will be closed to westbound through traffic west of Market Street.

Detours will be posted.

One lane of eastbound Traffic will be permitted through the work zone between the hours of 5:30pm to 6:30am using portable traffic control signals.

The sewer construction project, which began in late October, is part of a plan to widen Western Reserve Road.

The 5-mile-long sewer project covers Western Reserve from Hitchcock Road to Five Points in Poland Township.

Here are the upcoming stages of the project:

  • Stage 2: Glenwood Ave. to Market St.
  • Stage 3: Market St. to Southern Blvd.
  • Stage 4: Southern to South Ave.
  • Stage 5: South Ave. to North Lima Road

The project will eventually lead to the closure of the Unity Road Wastewater, redirecting the flow of sewage to the Boardman wastewater plant.
