3M has issued a recall on Scotch thermal laminators due to a potential fire hazard.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, a safety feature can malfunction if the laminator overheats, which poses a fire hazard.

3M has received nine reports of these laminators catching on fire with three reports of minor property damage. However, no injuries have been reported at this time.

The recalled products have the model numbers TL1302, TL1302VP, TL1302EF and TL1302KIT. The laminating slot is about 13 inches wide and the machine has a carrying handle on the right side.

The model number and serial number can be found on a sticker on the bottom of the product. The sticker on all devices includes only the model number TL1302 without letters.

The products were sold at stores such as Walmart, Staples and Costco, as well as Amazon between April of 2014 and August of 2022 for between $35 and $90.

Anyone who has purchased the recalled product should immediately stop using it and contact 3M for a full refund and instructions on how to properly dispose of the product.
