GoFundMe opened for special needs teacher who lost home in Poland fire, battling cancer

POLAND, Ohio - A GoFundMe has been created for a special needs teacher who had lost his home in a fire over the weekend.
The fire broke out in a home on Howell Drive in Poland early Saturday morning at approximately 4:00 a.m. Poland Fire Chief, David "Chip" Comstock says he estimates the fire dealt approximately $200,000 worth of damage to the home.
According to the GoFundMe description, the home is a "total loss."
On top of the damage to the home, the owner of the home, Don Garrett, a special needs teacher, was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia just three weeks prior and is currently in the hospital.
The GoFundMe states that Don and his wife Tammy have both dedicated their lives to helping others.
"Don is a teacher of at-risk students in the residential setting, and Tammy works with the elderly," the description read.
The fundraiser has a goal of $5,000. To chip and and help Don and Tammy's cause, click here.
