Gas prices rise due to winter storm and holiday travelers
Gas prices rose .30 cents in Northeast Ohio within the last week.

A small group of democrats running in tough midterm races are proposing a federal gas tax holiday.

YOUNGSTOWN - Valley gas prices have gone up alongside the rest of the state as demand for fuel increases.
According to AAA, gas prices in Northeast Ohio are .30 cents higher than last week.
This week's average price is $3.23 across Northeast Ohio. The average during the week of Dec. 27 was $2.94.
The national price for a gallon of gas rose .12 cents within the last week to reach $3.22.

AAA's trend analysis says the winter storm is partly to blame for the price hike because refineries were forced to temporarily close.
Plus, holiday travelers increase demand for fuel around this time of year.
