Legendary Boardman High School basketball coach, Ron Moschella dead at 72

A legendary Boardman High School basketball coach has died at 72.
Coach Ron "Mosch" Moschella was best known for leading the Boardman girls' basketball program for over 31 years netting the team over 600 wins during that time.
According to the Ohio High School Basketball Coach's Association, Moschella graduated from Ursuline High School in 1968 and Kent State University in 1972, where he earned his degree in Business and Physical Education.
From there, he earned his Masters Degree in Administration from Youngstown State University in 1980.
Coach Moschella led the Spartans to 19 Steel Valley Conference Championships over his run beginning in 1981. Two of his teams advanced to the final four in 2005 and 2008 respectively.
Prior to coaching, he taught marketing education, business law and physical education at Boardman High School starting in 1978.
Moschella became the first Valley coach to lead both boys and girls teams at the same time in Columbiana during the 2014-15 season.
According to the Ohio High School Basketball Coach's association, Moschella is the 21-time recipient of the Mahoning Valley Coach's Association's "Coach of the Year" award.
He was also the four-time recipient of the Northeast Ohio "Coach of the Year" laurels and the 2001 Ohio High School Basketball Coach's Association's "Coach of the Year" honor.
Moschella was known for his demand of excellence from players telling 21 News in 2015 that he coaches "passionately, loud and very demanding and [is] not afraid to tell kids what he thinks."
Prior to his death, Coach Moschella was still helping the Boardman program as an assistant coach during the current season.
