EV Technology Training coming to Eastern Gateway Community College

STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - Electric vehicle technology training is coming to the Mahoning Valley.
Eastern Gateway Community College received $914,000 to fund the installation of equipment and technology needed to provide EV technology training.
"The Mahoning Valley is fast becoming the Voltage Valley. We have an opportunity to be world leaders in electric vehicle technology," Michael Geoghegan, the community college's president, said. "Eastern Gateway is ready to train the workers who will build and install the technology and the parts to equip electric vehicles."
The college is already collaborating with Ultium Cells and will begin working with Foxconn in 2023.
Arthur E. Daly, Eastern Gateway Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer, said, "With this grant, we are poised to continue to be a leader in training in the electric vehicle space."
The money is federally funded through a "comprehensive government funding package."
The community college will offer classes on how to build and install EV technology and equipment.
Eastern Gateway officials are still deliberating on the location of the training facility, but Daly says they are looking to build a presence in Trumbull County, likely near EV businesses.
