Westminster College receives $20,000 in Hunger-Free Campus Grant funding
Westminster College in New Wilmington has been awarded $20,000 in grant money for the PA Hunger-Free Campus initiative.
Twenty-eight colleges and universities across 18 different counties received a total of $1 million in grant funding.
Pennsylvania Governor, Tom Wolf says over one third of students know at least one person who dropped out of college during the COVID-19 pandemic due to food insecurity.
"The PA Hunger-Free Campus designation and grant program gives Pennsylvania's colleges and universities the tools they need to combat hunger on their campuses and provide students with access to healthy foods so they can stay focused, learn and grow," Wolf said.
The Hunger-Free Campus initiative was revealed by PA First Lady, Frances Wolf during the summer of 2022 with the goal of addressing food insecurity on campus and other basic needs.
