Update: Poland schools locked down after report of person with weapon was seen nearby

Poland Local Schools were placed on lockdown on Thursday after Poland Township and Poland Village Police departments initiated lockdown procedures at all the schools in the in the district.
The lockdown began around 9:30 am and was lifted before 10 a.m.
Poland Township Chief of Police Greg Wilson told 21 News reporter Meredith Lea that a citizen reported to a patrol officer seeing a man wearing body armor carrying an assault-style rifle on Clingan Road, heading southbound, just north of US Route 224.
Poland Superintendent Craig Hockenberry said that the schools were placed in lockdown over a "community concern," and the parents were alerted to the concern around 9:50 am.
Poland Township Police told 21 News the lockdown was a precaution to an ongoing investigation near the schools, but the schools were not directly involved in the police investigation.
The police also used a drone to attempt to find the suspect, however, the attempts to locate the person were unsuccessful.
The superintendent told 21 News that Poland police were notified of a person running or jogging near the schools on Clingan Road with what the caller said thought could be a weapon.
Hockenberry said that no suspect was located, and out of extreme precaution, police were in each of the schools. All the buildings were placed into lockdown and well as Holy Family School.
