Sources: Dolan set to announce run for US Senate seat against Sherrod Brown

Ohio Senator Matt Dolan is expected to announce his candidacy for US Senate this week, NBC News is reporting. 21 News has independently verified Dolan's plan to run as the Republican candidate against Democratic US Senator Sherrod Brown in the 2024 election.
Dolan sought to fill the Senate seat vacated by Rob Portman in the 2022 May Primary but lost the bid to J.D. Vance. Dolan is from Chagrin Falls and is part-owner of the Cleveland Guardians.
Dolan lost the primary to Vance and finished behind Republican candidate Josh Mandel.
NBC is reporting that other Republican candidates who are closely looking at the race include Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose and Bernie Moreno, a businessman who briefly was a Senate candidate in 2022.
Brown is up for his fourth term in the 2024 general election that will take place in November.
Dolan will be appearing on 21 News at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
