Mercer D.A. Acker to seek reelection

MERCER, Pa. - Mercer County District Attorney Peter Acker announced on Tuesday that he will seek reelection in 2023.
Since his appointment to the post in 2019 and subsequent election, Acker says he has overseen the prosecution of 3,000 adult criminal and juvenile delinquency cases a year.
Acker established a digital forensic laboratory and utilizes a full-time county detective to run the laboratory which aids state and local law enforcement agencies.
“I will continue working with our state and local law enforcement partners to fight the effects of the opioid epidemic and sexual assaults upon our most vulnerable, especially the young,” said Acker in a statement.
Acker, who has a staff of 29 attorneys and paralegals, was appointed in February 2019 to finish the unexpired term of D.A. Miles Karson after he was found guilty on ten criminal charges.
Acker then won election to the post in the following November.
