If you've been shopping lately, you know going to the store to buy eggs isn't as simple as it used to be--as prices continue to skyrocket.

It's been a nightmare for restaurants and bakeries that need eggs to make just about everything you see on the menu.

Frank's Cafe in Boardman is seeing that harsh impact, owner Raphe Neapolitan telling 21 News he's paying four times as much for eggs, than he did during this time last year.  An egg-demic that's resulted in the price hikes.

"You don't want to rub them the wrong way, but the reality is you still have to turn a profit to be able to pay your staff and keep the doors open.", said Neapolitan, who adds price increases aren't translating into more dollars for the business, but compensating for high-priced materials.

In Poland, Bake Me Treats is seeing those effects first-hand.

"In April of 2022, we were paying $34 for a case of eggs or 15 dozen, so that's a little over two dollars a dozen--currently we're paying $74 a case.", said Gabriele Barnhizer, owner of the business.  Cakes down to Macarons require eggs, which has also led to price hikes there.

"People come in and see our raised priced and upset about it, obviously because they're already watching what they're spending and they don't understand that that is why." Barnhizer added.
