Youngstown police are investigating after a mailman was robbed Wednesday afternoon.

The robbery happened on the city's west side in the 400 block of N Osborn Avenue around 3:30 p.m.

According to the report, the mailman was making deliveries when a white male approached him with his hand in his pocket. The suspect then ordered the victim to give him his wallet and phone.

The victim said he did not have either item with him and patted his front and back pockets to show the man he was being truthful.

Reports say the suspect told the mailman "don't be reaching" and showed him the butt of the gun.

The suspect allegedly told the mailman to put his keys on the porch of a nearby home before grabbing them and running off towards Connecticut Avenue and Meridian Road.

According to the report, the suspect is a white male around the age of 19. He is about 5'6" and 135 pounds and had a cross tattoo between his thumb and index fingers.
