WARREN, Ohio - The Warren Parks & Recreation Committee will be meeting on Tuesday to discuss some significant improvements coming to all city parks, as well as the amphitheater.
Warren Third Ward Councilman, Greg Greathouse tells 21 News the total price tag for all of these improvements will come to around $6 million with the source of funding being ARP money.
Greathouse highlighted improvements to Packard and Perkins parks as the biggest park improvements up for discussion and says the differences between the parks now and after the improvements will be "night and day."
According to Committee Chairwoman, Helen Rucker, some of these improvements include tennis court and parking improvements, as well as new additions for recreational activities.
"I think the public will be very pleased with the work done for Perkins and Packard," Rucker said.
Renderings sent to 21 News by Baker Bednar Snyder & Associates indicate that other proposed improvements for Perkins Park include renovated dugouts and bleachers, LED lighting on the ball fields, a pedestrian path, renovated restrooms, north and south shelter repairs, security cameras and more.
Other proposed improvements to Packard Park include renovated dugouts and bleachers, LED lighting on the ball fields, a renovated press box, restroom renovations, the addition of pickleball courts, renaturalization of grassy areas, repairs to the warming shelter, security cameras and more.
Rucker tells 21 News the work on the amphitheater will be the first improvements the venue has seen in 25 years. These improvements include redoing dressing room, railing repairs and improvements to the handicap-accessible areas.
The meeting will take place on Tuesday, Janurary 24 at 4:00 p.m. and is open to the public. Architects will be at the meeting to present their visions for these improvements.
