The fight to keep a waste-to-energy plant out of Youngstown continues.

Concerned citizens met Tuesday afternoon at a billboard with the phrase "We have enough toxic air pollution. STOP SOBE."

The billboard is located on Belmont Avenue and Burlington Street.

SOBE is a Columbus area company planning to set up in Youngstown and Lowellville to use waste, plastics and tires to create gas and electricity.

It would be located at the old Youngstown Thermal plant on North Avenue, but those concerned say it's a safety hazard that needs to be stopped.

"We got downtown Youngstown right across the street. We got the dormitory and YSU so it's in a place where it can hurt a lot of people," Carolyn Harris of Love Your Neighbors Blockwatch said.

SOBE Energy says they hope to be up and running this summer.
