Saturday afternoon family and friends gathered at the Salvation Army Chapel in Warren to remember and celebrate the life of Chassidy Broadstone.
Hundreds turned out to remember the teen.
At a celebration of life service there were hugs and tears amid a sea of green, the 16 year old's favorite color.
The Junior at Warren G. Harding High School was also a Junior Soldier at the Salvation Army.
"She participated in after school programs, music programs, activities, youth groups, and was part of our church family," said Salvation Army's Captain Christopher Williams.
Her friends describe Chassidy as always wanting the best for others, someone who made you feel important.
If you would be down, depressed, upset in any type of way, she walks in a room and knows how to brighten the day," Jasmine Clark said.
"That's the kind of girl Chassidy was. She always put others first instead of putting herself first," Hunter Fetters added.
"She's just somebody you can really count on, she's very missed,' Cheyenne Clark said.
Her family states in an obituary Chassidy was an amazingly beautiful soul. God must have decided she was too good for this cruel world.
At the celebration of her life ceremony, there was a message for all who hurt and grieve, for those who are thankful they knew her.
"Life is a journey and we don't know how that journey is going to be, but think of all that stuff that she was and hold onto that," emphasized Williams.
Friends wore shirts with a picture of Chassidy showing her beautiful smile, others painted their faces with LLC Long Live Chassidy, or Forever 16.
"She's definitely going to live on in our hearts. There is no forgetting her at all," Deanna Milner emphasized.
Warren Police describe a vehicle at the scene as being a pewter color early 2,000 model GMC Yukon.
They also released a picture of a suspect.
If you have any information about who committed this crime call Warren Police Detective Michael Altiere at 330-841-2749.
