Jury selection is scheduled to get underway Monday for the suspect in a shooting at the Shell gas station on South Avenue in June of 2022

Visiting Judge Thomas Pokorny is hearing the case of Samuel Byrd.

The 69-year-old Youngstown man is charged with aggravated murder with firearm specifications and one count of having weapons while under a disability.

Byrd, who is accused of murdering 29-year-old Keimone Black on June 15, is described in an indictment as a "repeat violent offender."

Youngstown police were called out to the gas station around 3:00 a.m. on June 15. Police say that Black was shot several times, and his body was found next to a car that had numerous bullet holes.
