A 3,000-square foot facility will contain medical professionals equipped to provide physical and mental health care to Youngstown State University's student-athletes and staff.

The Korandovich Family Sports Medicine Center is housed inside Beeghly Center on YSU's campus. It will primarily serve the health care needs of athletes involved in YSU's men's and women's basketball, volleyball and swimming and diving programs.

The center will "deliver patient-centered physical and mental health care through a model of prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation delivered by staff athletic trainers, physical therapists, primary care team physicians and orthopedic team physicians," according to YSU's news center.

Two large plunge pools, functional rehabilitation space and a private physical exam room are available to the student-athletes and staff through the facility.

The sports medicine center will collaborate with the Bitonte College of Health and Human Services, allowing graduate students enrolled in the Master's in Athletic Training Program to learn alongside the university's health care professionals.

Bob Korandovich, who graduated from YSU with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, said he wanted to support the university because it has made such an impact on his family's history.

"We proudly support YSU as a part of our family history and to support the next generation of students," Bob Korandovich said.

He is the president and founder of Columbus based company KOREnergy, which is the "first, non-utility Demand Response Company in Ohio," according to the company's website.
