Valley congressman introduces bill to remove import-export restrictions on natural gas
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Local congressman Bill Johnson has introduced a new bill he says will help preserve the future of American energy.
Johnson introduced the Unlocking Our Domestic LNG Potential Act which would get rid of restrictions on the export and import of natural gas.
Representative Johnson says the LNG act would position the U.S. to lead the world stage as a provider of natural gas.
According to the release, Johnson believes an energy policy based on "good old fashion American ingenuity and innovation" is a good climate policy.
"The Biden administration continues to send mixed messaging on whether it supports reliable, sustainable, and affordable energy resources, like natural gas. At a time of great global uncertainty, for America to not be sitting at the head of the global energy table is dangerous," Johnson said.
Johnson also said the world would have to rely less on cruel and energy-rich dictators like Vladimir Putin if the restrictions were removed.
