The Youngstown State women's golf team began its spring season with a 5-1 match play victory over The Citadel on Saturday at Patriots Point Links in Mount Pleasant, S.C.

Puthita Khuanrudee, Titita Loudtragulngam, Danae Rugola, Madie Smithco and Lizzie Saur each won individual matches to power the Penguins to their third tournament win of the 2022-23 season. YSU has now won at least three tournaments for the third time in the last five seasons.
 
Khuanrudee won her match 3 and 2 while Loudtragulngam was victorious 4 and 2. Danae Rugola won 5 and 3 while Smithco won her match 7 and 5. Saur won 5 and 4 while while Adena Rugola dropped her match 4 and 2.
 
The Penguins picked up two tournament victories and a runner-up finish during the fall season. YSU won its first two events, winning the YSU Kickoff and the Roseann Schwartz Invitational in dominating fashion at Mill Creek Golf Course in Boardman, Ohio.
 
In addition to its two tournament wins during the fall slate, YSU earned two additional top-five team finishes. The Penguins finished an impressive fourth out of 16 teams at Penn State's Nittany Lion Invitational on Sept. 18 before placing second out of 15 teams at the Butler Fall Invitational on Oct. 4.
 
Youngstown State will continue its spring season on Feb. 11-13 with the Columbia Classic at Duran Golf Club in Melbourne, Fla.
