Legendary basketball coach John Hritz has seen a lot in 52 years of coaching basketball, and forty-two of those years were with girl's teams.
"It was probably time," Hritz told 21 Sports after his Leetonia team was beaten in the Division IV Sectional Tournament Tuesday night.
Hritz's 538 career wins ranks 18th in state history and the second most by an area girls' coach. The late Ron Moschella has 572 career wins.
Hritz spent 18 seasons at Struthers and led programs at Jackson Milton, Newton Falls, Campbell, Liberty, and Leetonia.
He's part of the Struthers and Curbstone Coaches Hall of Fames.
