U.S. EPA Administrator to visit East Palestine derailment site Thursday

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator, Michael Regan is planning a visit to East Palestine on Thursday.
According to a tweet from Regan, he plans to visit residents in their homes, visit the derailment site and meet with local and state emergency responders.
"I want the residents of East Palestine to know that we understand their fears and concerns. That's why [the U.S.] EPA has had boots on the ground from day 1, leading robust 24/7 air quality testing and screening homes," Regan said in a follow-up tweet.
Regan says the U.S. EPA will continue its partnership with Ohio Governor, Mike DeWine and the state of Ohio.
"We are going to get through this together and we are holding Norfolk Southern accountable," Regan said.
As of Tuesday, the EPA announced that 459 homes had been screened with 28 more scheduled on Wednesday. The total drinking water wells sampled to date is 21. EPA community air monitoring continues throughout the community.
