Environmental activist Erin Brockovich says her phone has been ringing off the hook since the train derailment in East Palestine over two weeks ago.
She's been following the developments ever since, and as we told you last week, she will be visiting the village this Friday.
Erin Brockovich an environmentalist made famous for helping build a $333,000,000 case against Pacific Gas and Electric involving groundwater contamination in Hinkley, Texas.
She will be in East Palestine this Friday with a prominent attorney explaining legal rights to people.
Erin Brockovich says she wants to help the people living in East Palestine get the help they need after a toxic train derailment.
The environmentalist will be there with a prominent attorney from Texas, Mikal Watts known for his litigation and big settlements against Bridgestone/Firestone and verdicts against Ford Motor Company and other companies.
During an interview on MSNBC last week, Brockovich advised the community to use common sense and ask questions.
"So the most important thing they can do, I see them do it all the time, often when they band together when they stay as a community, they use common sense, they listen to those instincts, they can protect themselves even though there's an absence of data at this point,"
Brockovich pointed out that a press release by Ohio's Governor stated Norfolk Southern was in charge, that the company had an unlined hole dug next to the train cars, dumped the chemical in that hole, and lit them on fire.
"Norfolk Southern took a train derailment that is their fault, and turned it into a way bigger disaster than it ever had to be," said Brockovich.
She told MSNBC that the people in East Palestine deserve transparency to see the data and find out about the tests used to gather that data, and have a right to have independent tests done.
The town hall is this Friday from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
It will be held in the East Palestine High school auditorium on Grant Street.
