The Penguins lead 36-32 at the half, but were outscored 51-28 by the Colonials in the second half.
Dwayne Cohill had 18 points in the loss.
YSU still remains in first place in the Horizon League with a 14-5 conference record, however Cleveland State is a half game back at 13-5.
The Penguins have one regular season game remaining at IUPUI on Saturday, while the Vikings have two games remaining at Green Bay and Milwaukee.
