ODNR: No signs to support chemical toxicity in deaths of wild animals in East Palestine

EAST PALESTINE, Ohio - The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) announced findings from four dead wild animals from the East Palestine area.
According to the release, final necropsy results showed no findings to support chemical toxicity as a cause of death.
The wild animals were brought to the Ohio Department of Agriculture's Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory on February 21.
ODNR has been investigating animal deaths potentially connected to the derailment for a number of weeks.
A previous report found an estimated total of more than 38,000 small fish may have died as a result of the train derailment. Another 5,500 aquatic species were also found dead in the days following the derailment in a five-mile span between Sulphur and Leslie Run.
If your pets show any symptoms of illness, you should contact your local vet.
