Mahoning Valley - Three Mahoning Valley conservation projects are getting grants from the state of Ohio.

The Ohio Public Works Commission announced seven conservation project awards Wednesday with three going to the Valley.

In Mahoning County, $142,647 will go toward the Mill Creek MetroParks Hawkins Marsh improvements.

The two other projects are in Trumbull County, the first is the Trumbull County MetroParks Range Four Preserve which will receive $642,200. Another $789,715 grant will go to Kinsman Swamp Restoration.

The Clean Ohio Green Space Conservation Program is dedicated to the acquisition, protection and enhancement of green space, rivers and streams. Each recipient of the grants agrees to keep the properties protected for future generations.

All projects are analyzed by Ohio's regional natural resource assistance councils before funding is approved.
