Mahoning County Child Services Director in talks with Lucas County Child Services
Mahoning County Child Service's Executive Director, Randy Muth is currently in talks with Lucas County Child Services about potentially accepting an executive director position there.
Muth confirmed with 21 News that the Lucas County Child Services Board of Trustees passed a motion to offer him a contract Tuesday night. Muth says the next step in the process is negotiations.
According to Muth, Lucas County's previous executive director retired six months ago. Tuesday night, the board determined that Muth was the candidate they were most interested in pursuing.
Muth tells us this is an opportunity that he explored himself stating that Lucas County is much bigger than Mahoning, and in turn would offer new challenges and experiences for him as an executive director.
However, Muth says this potential move is nothing against Mahoning County, and that he's very proud of the progress made during his 10 years with MCCS.
"In the 10 years that I've been here we've accomplished so much. We've revamped our child welfare philosophy. Personally, I'm very proud of the child welfare staff we've developed," Muth said.
When asked about what he wants for the future of MCCS, Muth told us he hopes his successor will continue making progress in child welfare.
"I would love to see the next executive director continue with the excellent progress we've made in modernizing the child welfare process we deliver here," Muth said.
