Parole denied once again for man convicted of 1980 Newton Falls murder

NEWTON FALLS, Ohio - A man convicted of a murder in Newton Falls over 40 years ago has once again been denied parole.
According to a document from the Ohio Parole Board, the board voted unanimously to deny John Johnson parole during a February 9 hearing. Johnson is convicted of the murder of Wyoma Teutsch and the attempted murder of Robert Teutsch.
Johnson was the couple's son-in-law.
According to the document, since his last parole hearing, Johnson had assaulted an inmate in prison. According to a letter from Trumbull County Prosecutor Dennis Watkins, this incident occurred in August of 2021 when Johnson attacked the inmate with an unspecified weapon.
In addition, he had engaged in minimal risk-relevant programming and there is a strong opposition to Johnson being placed on parole including opposition from Prosecutor Watkins.
Johnson's next parole hearing will take place in 2028.
