HUBBARD, Ohio - A new campaign between Hubbard Schools and the City of Hubbard Police Department is hoping to increase the safety of kids riding school buses.

The Arrive Safe campaign aims to reduce careless driving after both the school district and police department noticed an increase in the number of drivers not adhering to school bus lights and stop signs.

As part of the campaign, police officers will ride with students on the school bus to monitor the behavior of drivers.

If the officer catches a driver breaking the law, they'll radio a patrol car to make a traffic stop.

"We're committed to keeping our roads safe, and we're excited to partner with Hubbard Schools to achieve this goal," said City of Hubbard Police Sergeant Chris Moffitt. "We encourage all drivers to be extra cautious when driving near school buses and to follow the law at all times. We all have a role to play in ensuring the safety of our community, and we're confident that this campaign will make a real difference."

The Arrive Safe campaign is already underway and both the schools and police hope drivers will be extra cautious around school buses.
