Customers of Cafe 422 in Warren showed up in a big way when the restaurant owners asked for support to raise money for victims of the 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Turkey.

That earthquake killed more than 47,000 people and injured over 85,000.

Cafe 422 owners Serdar Dede and Erdal Dede served nearly 1,000 people during their Generous Hearts for Turkey event on February 27.

The nearly 1,000 people combined with donations and contributions to a GoFundMe page they set up raised a total of $50,000.

"I'd like to say I'm very thankful for all the support we received from the Mahoning Valley community," said Serdar. "I know it's going to take a tremendous amount of time and money to rebuild from the devastation there, but every little bit helps. My brother, the restaurant staff, our family and I cannot express enough how much this means to us."

Cafe 422 is sending the funds to The Foundation Anatolian People and Peace Platform.
