Village of Lowellville asking for public feedback on bike trail updates
1/2
LOWELLVILLE, Ohio - The Village of Lowellville is looking for feedback on proposed updates to one of its bike trails.
The village is proposing multi-phase rehabilitation efforts to 2.61 miles of Stavich Trail, which runs through Lowellville, Struthers and New Castle.
Phase 1 will begin construction this coming summer, and will include widening and resurfacing 0.48 miles of the trail from Youngstown Lowellville Road to Liberty Street. Phase 1 will also include rehabilitation efforts to to the pedestrian bridge over Gray's Run.
Although currently unfunded, the remaining phases will consist of widening and resurfacing the trail and drainage improvements, as needed.
During construction of Phase I, a section of the trail from Youngstown Lowellville Road to West Liberty Street will be closed to all pedestrian and bicycle traffic for about 90 days. The official detour for this closure will use Cooper Avenue, Youngstown Lowellville Road, Wood Street and McGill Street.
Construction, trail closure and detour information will be posted along the Stavich Trail and on the Village of Lowellville website.
While the proposed project will not result in any adverse impacts to Stavich Trail or substantial impacts to environmental resources, the Village of Lowellville is seeking any comments residents may have regarding the proposed project.
Comments are encouraged on the effect of the project on local residents, air quality, the proposed temporary trail closure and detours.
Comment can be submitted to the Village of Lowellville by mail, phone, or email regarding the social, environmental, and economic impacts of the proposed project by April 12, 2023.
