EAST PALESTINE, Ohio & DARLINGTON, Pennsylvania - East Palestine and Beaver County residents will have another opportunity to speak face-to-face with EPA representatives this week.
The EPA will hold a Community Resource Open House Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the East Palestine school gym (360 West Grant Street).
The EPA, Pennsylvania Departments of Agriculture, Environmental Protection, and Health and the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) of the CDC, Norfolk Southern, and State Representative Jim Marshall will hold a meeting at the same time, 6-8 p.m., Thursday at the Darlington Township Volunteer Fire Department (3590 Darlington Road).
EPA officials and Norfolk Southern contractors are still taking soil samples at a number of properties in both Ohio and Pennsylvania.
They say the sampling efforts will help identify if any contaminants are present from the train derailment.
So far, EPA and Norfolk Southern contractors have collected 62 soil samples.
