Ford is recalling 1.5 million cars and trucks over brake and windshield wiper issues.

The National Highway Traffic Administration says recall notices have been issued for 1,280,726 model year 2013 through 2018 Fusions and Lincoln MKZs.

The front brake hoses may rupture on the recalled models, resulting an increase in brake pedal travel, extending the distance needed to stop the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Dealers will replace the front brake hoses, free of charge. Interim letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed April 17, 2023. Second letters will be mailed once parts are available.

Another recall involves 222,454 model year 2021 F-150 pickup trucks because windshield wipers may fail.

Dealers will inspect and replace the wiper arms, as necessary, free of charge.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 27, 2023.
