Kennedy Catholic Schools announce new school president

SHENANGO VALLEY - Kennedy Catholic Family of Schools announced a new president for their school system.
Starting Monday, March 27 Board of Directors member Karen Ionta will start their new role as Kennedy Catholic president.
Ionta holds a Bachelor's of Science in Education, as well as a Master's in special education from Slippery Rock University and Elementary, Middle and Secondary Principal Certification, and a letter of Superintendent Eligibility from Westminster College.
She was also a special education teacher for the Midwestern Intermediate IV, taught third grade at New Castle School District, served as a home and school visitor and as a Supervisor of Special Education at Wilmington School District.
She was Elementary School Principal at Union School District, Secondary Principal at Neshannock School District, Director of Curriculum and Instruction and Special Services, Assistant Superintendent and then ultimately Superintendent of Schools for the Hermitage School District.
Ionta signed a 40-month contract with the school.
In February of this year, Kennedy Catholic announced that their schools would remain open for the 2023-2024 school year after experiencing financial issues.
According to a release from Kennedy Catholic, Ionta has extensive experience in developing school budgets, as well as long range strategic planning, administrative planning, and curriculum mapping.
