Smith Township manufacturing facility expects to create 80 new full time jobs

SMITH TOWNSHIP, Mahoning Co., Ohio - A trailer manufacturing company in Smith Township is expected to create 80 new jobs thanks to assistance from the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA).
According to a press release from Ohio Governor, Mike DeWine, the TCA reviewed economic development proposals brought to the board by JobsOhio and its regional partners.
These projects are expected to result in over $13.4 million in new payroll and spur over $55.6 million in investments across Ohio.
Here in the Mahoning Valley, MAC Trailer Enterprises Inc. in Smith Township expects to create 80 new full-time positions, which would generate $4 million in new annual payroll and retain $4.5 million in existing payroll.
This is the result of the company's expansion project, which will allow it to increase the output of both frameless and framed dump trailers.
MAC Trailer Enterprises owner, Mike Conny tells 21 News the company built a 90,000 square foot facility in Smith Township three years ago. Now, Conny plans to add an additional 90,000 square feet to it.
In the beginning, MAC only had 25 employees in one facility in Alliance. Now that number has grown to over 1,600 employees across 12 different facilities across the country with over 1,000 of these employees in one of five facilities in Ohio.
"We're the largest commercial customer trailer builder in North America. We're looking to continue the growth of our business in the state of Ohio.
The company and its affiliates design, manufacture and market standard and customized dump, platform, pneumatic tank, liquid tank, refuse trailers and dump bodies under the Beall, MAC LTT, MAC Trailer and Trailstar brands.
Conny tells us some positions up for grabs for these new jobs include warehouse positions, material manager positions, welding and fabrication positions, forklift operator positions and general office manager positions.
The TCA approved a 1.339% seven-year job creation tax credit for the project.
